What Is Delta 10?

You may have heard of delta variants more than you’d like to in the past two years. But in this case, we’re talking about something that’s actually good: Delta variants you can actually look forward to. We bet that’s something you didn’t see coming!

First is what we’ve always identified as THC, which actually turned out to be called Delta 9 THC. It’s just that we never really had the need to call it by its full name until we realized there were more THC varieties available. For the longest time, we referred to Delta 9 THC simply as ‘marijuana’.

This turned out to be incredibly inaccurate because all that marijuana is, is a variety of the cannabis plant, a psychoactive variety due to its high Delta 9 THC content. But inside of it, we could find a wide variety of components, including Delta 9 THC.

But then along came hemp, a non-psychoactive variety of the cannabis plant. It was first used to make string, rope, clothing, wick lighting thread, hemp-derived protein, and other non-psychoactive products.

Soon we found out that hemp actually carried a high concentration of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, in contrast to its very low concentration of Delta 9 THC.

Due to this fortunate combination of features, the U.S. declared hemp a federally legal crop in 2018, as well as CBD extracted from legal hemp that contained no more than 0.3% of Delta 9 THC per unit of dry weight.

After almost four years of continuous research and development, we found that hemp isn’t only good for CBD extraction; there are multiple varieties of THC that can also be found in hemp. These varieties consist of Delta 9 THC (in lower quantities), but also other forms of the cannabinoid, like Delta 8 and Delta 10 THC.

Which can also be found in as many products as ‘regular’ THC (Delta 9) and CBD. You’ll be able to find a large selection of delta 10 cartridges, disposables, and edibles from popular brands like Space Walker and Delta Extrax.

But that brings us to the main question that triggered the need for this article: What exactly is Delta 10 THC and how does it compare to Delta 8, Delta 9, and other cannabinoids?

What Is Delta 10?

Delta 10 THC is a cannabinoid that is only found in trace amounts in the cannabis plant. It has a psychoactive profile like Delta 9 THC but many consumers who have tried Delta 10 have reported milder effects in comparison to D9. In terms of effects, it is probably much closer to Delta 8 THC. Yet, effects are a case of perception and they may vary from one consumer to the next.

Delta 10 THC is processed from hemp extract with high concentrations of CBD. You can find Delta 10 carts, Delta 10 flower, Delta 10 disposables, and Delta 10 gummies like the best-selling Delta Extrax Tropical Punch D8/D10 blend which we’ve already suggested above.

Delta 8 vs. Delta 10

Both Delta 8 and Delta 10 THC are made by processing CBD-rich hemp extract. A series of chemical reactions and solvents are used to refine the resulting hemp extract. But because Delta 10 is so rare, it makes it very difficult for a product to have a high Delta 10 content.

This is the main reason why you’ll see so many products that combine Delta 10 with other Delta varieties and other cannabinoids, much like the best-selling Hawaiian Haze prefilled cart by Delta Extrax.

Is Delta 10 Safe?

Delta 10 is as safe as any other cannabinoid extract. However, the process used to isolate Delta 10 from other cannabinoids and components in the cannabis plant may involve the use of chemicals and solvents. This means that you want to be purchasing your Delta 10 products from reputable brands and trustworthy retailers.

Ideally, you’ll also buy Delta 10 products that provide access to lab test results that prove the final product does not contain any unwanted contaminants. These test results will usually show by scanning a QR code included in the packaging or label of the product, much like the certificate of analysis that you can find online for A Gift From Nature Delta 10 Gummies.

How Long Does Delta 10 Stay in Your System?

There is little evidence to answer this question and none of it is conclusive. But most evidence suggests that Delta 10 behaves like Delta 9 because they are both THC molecules; if consumed frequently it takes a longer time to leave your system, but if consumed more frequently that time frame may broaden.

What Are the Effects of Delta 10?

As briefly addressed above, Delta 10 has a psychoactive effect on the human body. In more colloquial words, it can get you ‘high’.

Unlike Delta 8 THC, the effects of Delta 10 are often compared to the effects you would expect from Sativa strains. But then again, these comments are not based on conclusive scientific evidence and should be considered anecdotal at best.

What we can say conclusively is that every person has a different tolerance to different substances. So what one person feels while consuming a certain amount of Delta 10 distillate might not be what the next person feels with the same serving size of the same product.

What you may also do is filter out your Delta 10 THC products by strain. For instance, if you know you like the effects of Indicas, then maybe go with an Indica-specific product like the Delta Extrax Ice Cream Cookies Cart:

Is Delta 10 Legal?

On paper, Delta 10 is federally legal as long as it’s extracted from legal hemp and the final product contains less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC per unit of dry weight. This makes it incredibly attractive for consumers who live in states where Delta 9 THC is still not legal.

However:

Some states have banned Delta 10, even if state laws seem to contradict federal regulation. That’s why we aren’t able to ship to certain states. That said, the best move is to check out your state’s laws before making a purchase that you might not be able to enjoy.

The knowledge around CBD and other cannabis-derived products is growing and constantly changing, as does their legal status. Hence, we recommend checking with your local authorities and a licensed physician prior to consumption.
