As of late, it has become a bit of a fad to infuse your favorite recipes with CBD. If you've been paying any attention to the news lately, I'm sure you've given the current times and the turmoil they present to us (whatever your political tendencies are).
If you have, you probably noticed that there were votes cast related to cannabis legalization in 5 states during the same election period. Options that ended in a positive outcome for the cannabis industry in all of them. Not that they were all voting for legalization, but at least a form of it.
However, that's not why we're here, are we? We're here for cookies. The current political atmosphere allows us to understand just how much of a thing CBD is right now. It's hot, legally, and because so many people worldwide are finding CBD to deliver positive effects on the body.
Anti-Anxiety CBD Cookies
Among many other potential benefits and properties, CBD is associated with providing a muscle and mind relaxing effect on the body. Hence it's become popularized as a substance used to assist with anxiety management. Although clinical studies in humans confirm this is not available as of yet, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support this claim.
So we couldn't think of anything better to help us handle our anxiety than a good dose of CBD infused chocolate chip cookies right out of grandma's cookbook.
- 10 tbsp softened butter: Some people like to make this unsalted butter but we like to add a pinch of salt to our cookie recipe because we feel it makes the flavors pop a bit more. Also, the quantity might vary between 2 or 3 tbsp in case you’re using CBD infused butter (cannabutter w/o THC).
- 1 Cup of brown sugar
- 4 large egg yolk
- 4 tsp vanilla extract
- 80 mg CBD oil
- 1 Cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp of salt: Only include this ingredient if you’re using unsalted butter.
- As many chocolate chips as your heart desires
Instructions & Prep-Tips
You’ll get around 14 to 18 total cookies depending on how big you make each one and depending on the oven space available. If you stay at 16, you’re likely to get around 5 mg of CBD per cookie. But this will ultimately depend on how much CBD oil you want to include in the recipe. You could stay at the 5mg/cookie mark or go all the way up to 10, 15, or perhaps even 20. The reality is that there is no limit on how much CBD you can take, but there is a limit on the amount of CBD you find pleasant. So, it’s totally up to you.
If you want to store the cookies and not eat them all at once, it’s perfectly acceptable to freeze them once they have been left out of the oven until they reach room temperature. CBD is not likely to lose its potency if placed in the freezer. However, it’s always better to eat them fresh out of the oven.
Preheat the oven to 325F.
Steps to an incredible batch of CBD Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- Soften butter and mix with sugar in a bowl until creamy.
- Stir in the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and CBD oil briskly.
- Stir in flower, baking soda, and salt if you’ve gone with unsalted butter.
- Once the mixture finishes, you have the option of stirring in the chocolate chips. Or wait to put them on top of the cookies once they’ve been assembled on the baking tray. We like the second way better, but it’s up to you.
- Divide the batter into 16 equal portions if you have enough space for it.
- Portion batter on a baking sheet on top of the tray and place in the oven until golden brown. (probably looking at around 18 minutes).
CBD Products you can use in this recipe
1. Best CBD Chocolate for your chips
In case you don’t feel like using traditional CBD oil on this recipe and still plan on buying chocolate to go with the recipe, then a good alternative would be to buy previously infused chocolate that you can break up into little chunks. While this chocolate bar's CBD content stands at a decent quantity with 200mg total, the amount of chocolate might not be enough for 16 cookies. If you buy two of these bad boys, you’ll be able to dose each cookie with 25mg each, and you won’t have to go out and purchase extra CBD oil or waste your CBD oil on recipes.
2. CBD Butter
We don’t know about you, but the combination of chocolate and peanut butter is something that hits the spot for us. With this smooth CBD Peanut Butter from Veteran Grown Hemp, you’ll be able to add a dash of that traditional tasty smoothness with an additional touch of CBD.
3. CBD Oil
We love Avid Hemp Keto Diet Oil because it allows you to cook with it, making it just a tad more resistant to heat, which is always a good thing if you’re throwing a tray of cookies in the oven. Not only that, but this oil comes packed with healthy fats and protein, staying very loyal to a traditional keto diet.
4. CBD Spices
There’s nothing like a cookie with a bit of pumpkin spice in it. With this Koi Autumn specialty oil, you’ll to soothe your CBD oil needs for this recipe but also while adding a bit of uniqueness to your final product.
5. CBD Vanilla Oil
You already know that this recipe comes customized for CBD oil, so you might as well make sure the oil adds only the best to your dish. Active CBD Oil is both extra robust and extra delicious with a dash of natural vanilla flavor. This product is also water-soluble, which makes it just perfect for cooking.
Why add CBD?
As we mentioned briefly above this recipe, CBD is an excellent way to include an additional functional feature to the classic chocolate chip cookie recipe that you would usually bake for your friends and family. CBD is not only an all-natural product, but it’s also safe for experimentation.
We would still suggest consulting with your friends and family before feeding them any CBD infused product. However, in general terms, CBD is safe and has not reported overdose cases. Not only that, but it’s an extremely versatile ingredient for usage in a variety of disorders and ailments. So the chances that you’ll be doing a good deed for whoever eats your cookies are pretty high.
CBD is also a non-psychoactive ingredient, meaning that there is no ‘high’ associated with it. This allows you to remain focused throughout the day. Nevertheless, this will depend on the amount of CBD you take and your condition, including medical conditions, weight, size, and overall CBD tolerance.
